Clifford Visits Our Classroom

Today we were very surprised when Clifford visited our classroom. We were listening to Shaelyn read her book (When I Was Young in the Mountains), and there was a knock at the door. Clifford came walking in. We got to give him hugs before we had to leave for lunch.

Easter Giveaway

Ms. Durning (Second Grade is Splendid)is having a giveaway for her Easter math center activities. They are in color, so they can be printed, laminated, and used year after year.

Leprechauns and Other St. Patrick's Day Stuff

Wednesday we worked on making traps to catch a leprechaun. The students did a great job working together while making them. I think you will agree they made some pretty appealing traps!

When we arrived Thursday morning, our room was a mess! The window was open, and there were shiny shamrocks all over our room! There was a note to us telling us what a good job we had done making our traps. The leprechaun's name was Finn. He left us a big box of his favorite cereal - Lucky Charms. He told us he had heard that there were more of the green hat marshmallow charms in each box than any other shape. He asked us to check and see if this was true or not.




First we sorted the oat cereal from the marshmallow charms.









Then we sorted the marshmallow charms into groups.







We made tally marks to keep track of how many of each shape we had.

We got to eat the Lucky Charms when we were done. Yum!

Dooing Fun Stuff At School

We looked at pickers of things that might be simple machines.All the children in our class took pictures of simple machines.We went into the hall,kitchen,outside,in our class room.

Simple Machines

On Friday we took pictures of are simple machines that we brought. We had to bring a lever,pulley,wedge,inclined plane,screw,and wheel and axle.

The Things We Do At School

we watched videos about pupas shredding there skins and turning in to a darkling beetle. we learned about balancing money. we read to a high schooler and the names were carley and mattie .we had shapes that were a differant shape and we had to fill in them.we played at resses. we ate lunch. we had music and in music we wachted princess and the frog. ♬ ♪

What a Busy Day!

Today we observed a darkling beetle "hatching" from a pupa. We could tell because we saw it's little legs.

In math we did Guess and Check. You had to guess an answer and check to see if it was right. If it wasn't right, you put a line through it. We turned to our elbow partner to practice our minuses.

We worked on our simple machines book.

We listened to Maddy finish her favorite book. We also read the letter from her mom.

Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss!

Today our class performed "A Tribute to Dr. Seuss" for our parents, grandparents, and students from other grades. We had a great time, and got lots of compliments on how well we did!
